Starting with ASCE 7-22, Loads & Forces calculations are added to a Project File in the same way other calculations are added.
Video: Adding ASCE 7-22 Loads & Forces Modules to Project File
Make sure the project file is set to ASCE 7-22 or later by checking the ASCE 7 reference in the upper right-hand corner.
If the ASCE 7 edition is set to a version earlier than ASCE 7-22, expand the General division, and double-click the Building Code Information item.
Use the ASCE 7 Edition selector to choose ASCE 7-22 or later, and then click Save & Close.
Click on the Calculations folder, then click Add, then choose the desired tab and calculation:
The screen will display the new calculation form, and when you save and close, the calculation will appear in the Project Manager:
Historical Note: When Loads & Forces calculations were first introduced, they were automatically included in the Project Manager when starting a new project file, appearing as a set of preloaded Loads & Forces divisions. These divisions and modules will continue to appear in ENERCALC SEL project files when the governing code is set to ASCE 7-10 or ASCE 7-16.
Each project file includes the following Loads & Forces divisions:
•Seismic Loads & Forces
•Wind Loads & Forces
•Other Loads & Forces
Each division contains modules for calculating the respective types of loads and forces. Use of these modules is optional, but they cannot be moved out of their assigned division. Likewise, other calculation modules cannot be added to or placed inside these divisions.
As ENERCALC SEL continues to evolve, these Loads & Forces divisions will include more tools to support the development of project load calculations.
